Artist Statement

About the Artist

I have always believed that art is a form of memory. As a Venezuelan who has witnessed what it means to lose, to migrate, to adapt, and to rebuild, I create because I refuse to forget. History is one of my deepest passions. I am endlessly moved by the idea that who we are is inseparable from where we come from. My work exists at that intersection — between memory and identity, between exile and belonging.

From acrylic to graphite, from bold texture to delicate lines, every medium I use becomes a language. Some stories demand softness. Others demand contrast. I allow the material to speak alongside me. Storytelling is the center of everything I do. A portrait is never just a face. A landscape is never just a place. Every piece holds a before and an after, a quiet narrative about resilience, tenderness, displacement, love, or survival.

Living in San Francisco has expanded my perspective, but it has not diluted my roots. If anything, distance has sharpened them. I carry Venezuela in every stroke. I carry its history, its pain, its beauty, and its hope.

Biography

I am a Venezuelan artist based in San Francisco, but my roots live in Ciudad Bolívar, in its light, its history, and its silences.

I began my formal artistic training at the Academia de Arte Miguel Herboniere, where I learned not only technique, but discipline, observation, and reverence for detail. That foundation shaped me, but it was Venezuela itself that truly formed my voice.

Through acrylic, graphite, and mixed media, I explore memory, identity, and history — the invisible threads that shape who we are and where we come from. As a Venezuelan living abroad, my art is deeply rooted in remembrance. I create to honor my country, to preserve its stories, and to serve as a voice for its resilience and beauty.

Every piece I create is more than an image — it is a narrative, a fragment of history, and a bridge between past and future.
